Hannastown Pennsylvania Westmoreland County

Hannastown Pennsylvania Westmoreland County Sign Photo was taken 1975

Sign Says:
Site of former county seat of Westmoreland County is just east of here. First
county seat west of mountain, 1773. Citizens adopted a Declaration in support of
the Revolution, 1775. Burned by the Indians in 1782.

Today, I have uploaded another 330 pictures that I have restored and this was one of the slides that I have uploaded.

I have lived in the area most of my life, but never really knew the story of Hannastown. I was unaware that Indians burned down the town. I can hardly wait now to get the Hannastown slides scanned so I can see how they come out. I remember Grandpap being out there a lot while they were rebuilding the town taking pictures, I bet there are over 100 of them just of them rebuilding the town.
