Northampton County's Only covered bridge has received a grant to add to the money the Kreidersville Covered Bridge Association has collected to maintain, and promote the bridge.
On December 23,1997 Allen Township became the owner of this bridge.
This bridge is 116 years old being built in 1839. This is a single span bridge that spans 116 feet.
Kreidersville has no openings on the side to let light in.
It was damaged once in 1950's and was almost tore down, PennDOT wanted to replace it with a cement bridge, but the citizens took a stand and it was restored. This is the only covered bridge left in Northampton county, Pennsylvania.
This bridge had several different names, Solt's, Hummel's, Koch's and Kreidersville. It crosses Hokendauqua Creek.
All the photos from the Fred Yenerall Collection of this bridge can be found here.
