Junita County Pennsylvania Covered Bridges

Dimmsville Covered Bridge (1902)
Junita County
July 1975

Junita County has 3 bridges still standing, Academia, Dimmsville, and Port Royal Covered Bridges. The Fred Yenerall Collection has all 3 in the collection. All his photos of the bridges are taken from the 1960's-1980's. See how the bridges looked back then.

This is how Academia Covered bridge looked in 1968. This bridge was built in 1901.

The Port Royal Covered Bridge was built in 1858.

This photo is from 1966, It was destroyed by Hurricane Agnes in 1972, and now is rebuilt, from the original timbers from the bridge, and is privately owned.

The other bridge that is in the collection is shared between the two counties, Junita and Snyder County, It is the Beaver Covered Bridge.

Beaver Bridge built in 1908 Photo taken 1975

Most the information has been taken from the original slide itself - updated information on bridges is from the website www.lostbridges.org . All photos property of The Fred Yenerall Collection.
