Punxautawney Phil from Punxautawney PA , didn't see his shadow today, so the winter coats soon can be put away.
Every year people get so excited about this critter only on this day to see if he will see his shadow. The rest of the year we are trying to keep this critter out of the gardens. They wake him up before daybreak to have him check his shadow, actually I don't think he really cares at that hour.
This tradition started back in 1887.
