Goals for the website

Most of the photos that are copies were uploaded today, I still have more to upload, but that will be done later this week. Now its time to caption these photos, a major job with over 400 photos to caption. You can still see what the photo is of, because I have the file name showing, but my spelling isn't the greatest for the file name, so captions are desperately needed.

I am shocked at how many are actually copied photos, that I took the time to scan them. Scanning is almost completed. I have DVD's full of photos that are corrected and a lot that need corrected and restored to upload.
The scanning is soon finished, about 1600 left to do and I'm done with that part of it. Since I have been at this for about 4 years, I am sure I will feel lost. But the slides are getting harder to restore as they are showing signs of age, and it will be a relief to complete this task. I feel blessed that I was able to save as many as I did. I know that my grandfather is watching from heaven and smiling, since I wanted no part of his bridge stuff when I was a child. Now I have become so involved in his photographs and in total awe on how beautiful some of his photos were.

I will probably be spending a lot of time researching at www.lostbridges.org which I found is one of the best sites I have found that gives a lot of information on bridges that are no longer standing. Its a huge database of covered bridges. I will be contacting them this week to offer some of the photos from the collection to add to their database.

Today I did moved some photos over to the new Somerset county Gallery, bridges, nature, and mills. I think it will be nicer to have a special place to find all the photos from a county instead of searching all over the website. I still have Fayette County gallery to move photos to. I am not sure what gallery I will set up next for counties.

I am rethinking about the number of photos that I have uploaded its over 10000 photos, and that's not counting the family photos that are in a locked gallery. Maybe its too many, I did read where I can organize it a little better, which I will be starting that in the coming weeks.

You can now Search the Blog or the main website for Bridges, Mills, and other historical buildings from this one location.
Are you looking for a certain bridge, type it in the search box and see the photos of it.
