Indiana Covered Bridges
A newspaper in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania has reported that Indiana County commissioners will establish a committee to help preserve the last 4 covered bridges in the Indiana County.
All bridges are on the National register of Historical places. Trusal or Dice's covered bridge, Kintersburg, Thomas, and Harmon Bridge are the bridges that are still standing in Indiana County, PA.
Harmon Covered Bridge
The article also states that the only bridge still in use today is Thomas Covered bridge, it's also the longest covered bridge. It was built in 1879.
The oldest Covered bridge in the county is Dice. built in 1870. Being 35 feet long it is the shortest of the county's bridges.
Harmon Covered bridge was built in 1910 for $525.00 it is 40 feet long.
Built in 1877 was Kintersburg for a cost of $893.00.
The committee will help with promoters of the covered bridges. The fred Yenerall collection has photos of all these bridges taken during the years between 1960-1980.
